Kick it and pick it.
We're extremely honored to be part of the first bluegrass festival held within the city limits of Pittsburgh!
The Picksburgh Bluegrass Festival will take place May 2 at the beautiful 25 Carrick Ave., with a full day of outdoor and indoor performances featuring not just us but the Allegheny Drifters, Jakob's Ferry Stragglers, Casual Hobos, Echo Valley and more!
Visit PicksburghFest.com for more information, artist announcements and other excitement about the festival. Grab your ticket early!
Danny is a member of Pittsburgh's favorite rock band, the Bastard Bearded Irishmen. He is also a solo recording artist and picks a bit of mandolin with Sweaty Already when he gets the chance.
The open bluegrass jam at Hambones in Lawrenceville has proved to be both popular as well as delicious!
On Feb. 9, March 15 and April 19 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., bring an instrument and an appetite for BLUEGRASS'N'BISCUITS! If you don't pick, just stop by to listen and grab some chow!
Originally conceived as a reference to Pat's default state-of-being between April and September — as in, "We haven't even started the show yet and Pat's sweaty already!" — the Sweaty Already String Band hits the stage with a blend of traditional and modern bluegrass, along with some unexpected covers.
We played our highest number of gigs yet in 2019, and 2020 is shaping up to be even better. Our summer calendar is already filling up with festivals, and while the weather is chilly, you can usually catch us once a month at our home base, Biers Pub on the North Side!
One of the best things about the local bluegrass community is how many pals we have with the talent to jump in and pick for an evening. Our good pal Danny Rectenwald fills that role as much as possible, but when he's busy with the Bastard Bearded Irishmen, you never know who you might catch sittin' in and gettin' sweaty with us!
