Kick it and pick it.
The past three months have pretty much changed everything, including the musical landscape for the foreseeable future. Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the pandemic, including our musician friends who are now relying on the generosity of their fans to make their living.
We're thankful to have our regular jobs to fall back on, but we're still itching to make music, and we've slowly been doing it! Here are a few of our recent livestreams, and if you have a ticket to the Grass in the Glades festival later this month down in Fayette County, we'll see yinz Saturday afternoon on the main stage!
Jim is a veteran of the former Mon River Ramblers. He's been sitting in with us off and on for while, and now he's sittin' in all the time!
3/13/20 Bier's Pub on the North Side with special guest DeAnna Efaw... pretty much the last live show in Pittsburgh until a few weeks ago.
Originally conceived as a reference to Pat's default state-of-being between April and September — as in, "We haven't even started the show yet and Pat's sweaty already!" — the Sweaty Already String Band hits the stage with a blend of traditional and modern bluegrass, along with some unexpected covers.
We played our highest number of gigs yet in 2019, and 2020 is shaping up to be even better. Our summer calendar is already filling up with festivals, and while the weather is chilly, you can usually catch us once a month at our home base, Biers Pub on the North Side!
One of the best things about the local bluegrass community is how many pals we have with the talent to jump in and pick for an evening. Our good pal Danny Rectenwald fills that role as much as possible, but when he's busy with the Bastard Bearded Irishmen, you never know who you might catch sittin' in and gettin' sweaty with us!
